Eat Right

The Power of Buzzwords

Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. This month of May, I share a buzzword from my book’s Health section. For many of us, sayings like “An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away,” remind us of the value of healthy food choices. Case in point, when my husband, and I faced elevated cholesterol results during our annual blood work, we were determined to rebalance our food choices. We returned to our Blood Type O diet, which recommends specific foods to embrace and others to limit or eliminate (“Avoid”), based on the philosophy that people with different blood types digest and respond to foods differently. After some time, retesting showed that both our cholesterol levels had dropped into a healthier range. Interestingly, while we both made the same dietary changes, my husband also began eating “an apple a day”—having read that apples can help lower cholesterol thanks to their soluble fibre and antioxidant content. His results were even more impressive than mine, hence proving just how effective eating the right foods can be…thank you Mother Nature! Our health is top priority for our wellbeing, and this buzzword “Eat Right” is a great reminder to do just that.

This month’s buzzword is:

Eat Right

I am genuinely amazed by the intricacy of the human body and how everything is uniquely connected to achieving success. Our bodies do not ask much of us, other than to be nourished and to get rest—and oh yes, to listen to it when something is wrong. I came to a new appreciation and understanding of my body after I read the book Eat Right 4 Your Type by Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo. I learned that our bodies, as unique as they are, have recommended dietary and lifestyle choices based on our blood type, that being O, A, B, or AB. Each blood type, being our internal chemistry, reacts differently to the food we eat, and by introducing the recommended foods for our blood type, we can improve our overall health. This knowledge has given me a new respect for my body and has empowered me to know that I can change my state of health with the food I eat. So, for those looking to achieve optimum health, consider changing your food choices to match your blood type and call upon the buzzword “Eat Right” to help you on your journey.
