Let Life In
Many years ago, a dear friend gave me a beautiful plaque with William Shakespeare’s words: “With mirth & laughter let old wrinkles come.” At the time, wrinkles were not on my mind, so I did not fully understand the quote’s significance until now, as I reach a milestone birthday. Looking in the mirror, I see the reality of aging reflected in my face and body. Everywhere, there are messages urging us to resist or reverse this natural process. I admit that part of me still longs for the youthful face untouched by life’s trials and tribulations, but I am learning to make peace with what I see. As Goodreads puts it, “Those facial displays are the ultimate physical record of a life fully lived. Instead of .........
I Am Listening
The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. This June, I bring you a buzzword from my book’s Children’s section. Communication plays a vital role in personal growth and how we interact with others. With busy schedules and constant social media distractions, it is important to make time for unplugged, uninterrupted connection. Meaningful conversations do not happen in passing; they require quality time to breath, reflect, and share, especially when dealing with matters of the heart. Although this buzzword is written with children in mind, its message is universal in building and strengthening relationships.........
Eat Right
The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. This month of May, I share a buzzword from my book’s Health section. For many of us, sayings like “An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away,” remind us of the value of healthy food choices. Case in point, when my husband, and I faced elevated cholesterol results during our annual blood work, we were determined to rebalance our food choices. We returned to our Blood Type O diet, which recommends specific foods to embrace and others to limit or eliminate (“Avoid”), based on the philosophy that people with different blood types digest and respond to .........
You Are Valued
The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. This April, “You are Valued” is the headline buzzword in a trio pulled from my book’s Buzzword Toolbox section. These buzzwords— “I Love You,” “I Am Sorry,” and “Thank You”—have the power to deepen connections, to heal, and to strengthen one’s sense of value. In this new age of technology with its communication and information coming and going at light speed, it can impede meaningful conversation. These three buzzwords are important ones yet not used often enough. So, use them to build and nurture your .........
Red Flag
The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. For this month of March, I share a buzzword from my book’s Workplace section. As our world continues to change in many ways, it’s essential to see the truth, recognize the facts and understand when caution is needed. As Maya Angelou wisely said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time,” prompting us to remember that a person’s actions and initial behaviour are authentic indicators of their true character. This buzzword, “Red Flag” is one to use in the workplace or any situation where you need to step back .........

The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. This month of February, I share a buzzword from my book’s Life section. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the state of the world and the many challenges we face each day. Finding balance means not only acknowledging the reality around us but also searching for the strength and conviction to keep moving forward in a constructive way. Recently I found inspiration while listening to Prime Minister Mark Carney’s speech at the World Economics Forum. He said, “We actively take on the world as it is, not wait around for a world we wish to be.” .........
I Am Loved
The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. As we greet the New Year, I want to share a special buzzword from my book’s Children section. Recently, I came across an inspiring interview by @connectwithgrowth titled “Little Philosopher Explains Love”, in which a young child expresses the importance of self-love. She is blessed to have found this truth at such a tender age, which will strengthen and guide her throughout her life. You can watch her insightful message here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/bYvQyiiAxd4. Now embed this buzzword “I Am Loved” into your mind, your heart,.........
Fill Me with Light
The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. This December, I share a buzzword from my book’s Health section. While the holiday season is often a joyful time of celebration, it can also bring present-day challenges that weigh heavily on the heart. For me, when I witness a sunrise, it gives me strength and reminds me of a quote attributed to Francis of Assisi, “Where there is darkness, let there be light.” May this buzzword, “Fill Me with Light” be one to call upon when you need to refuel and renew your spirit.
This month’s buzzword is:
Fill Me with Light
We have the power .........
Forgive Them
The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. For November, I bring you a buzzword from my book’s Relationship section. After watching Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’—a masterpiece of art, with its gorgeous set design, costumes, cinematography, and outstanding performances, I had to watch it a second time! I was moved by the film’s portrayal of a father-son relationship and their emotional challenges, highlighting the importance of forgiveness and belonging. With this, I share the buzzword, “Forgive Them.”
This month’s buzzword is:
Forgive Them
It is only .........
Be Grateful
The Power of Buzzwords
Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. In this month of October, during Thanksgiving, I share the buzzword, “Be Grateful” from my book’s Life section. I have found that Thanksgiving can be more than an occasion to celebrate life’s blessings—it can be an everyday state of mind grounded in gratitude. By welcoming an attitude for gratitude, being an ongoing state of deepening your appreciation for the present moment and everything within…it will enrich your life…. “Be Grateful.”
This month’s buzzword is:
Be Grateful
Back in 1996, I learned of .........
